Belote A La Vache: The Ultimate Rules

Objective:

Embark on a thrilling adventure through various levels that will test your skills and strategic thinking. With Belote A La Vache, you'll never have a dull moment!

Players and Teams:

  • The game is played by 4 players, forming 2 teams of 2 players each.
  • The players follow a sequence for dealing, starting from the player to the left of the previous dealer.

Stages of a Round

Distribution and Bidding:

  • A deck of 32 cards (A, K, Q, J, 10, 9, 8, 7) is used. The dealer shuffles and deals 6 cards to each player initially.
  • Players evaluate their cards and take turns to bid or pass, starting with the player to the left of the dealer.
  • Bidding determines the trump suit or whether there is no trump ("No Trump").
  • Players can bid, pass, double (increase points), or re-double (increase points again). If all pass twice, the dealer must bid.

Tricks Playing:

  • The player to the left of the dealer starts by playing a card.
  • Players follow suit if possible, play a trump if they cannot follow suit, or any card if they cannot play a trump.
  • If the first card is a trump, subsequent players must play a higher trump if they can. If a non-trump was played first, it must be followed.
  • The player who wins a trick leads in the next one.

Announcing Combinations:

  • Players can announce combinations when playing their first card. If they have nothing, they just play a card.
  • Three types of combinations: 4 cards of the same rank ("Carré"), sequences of 3-8 same-suit cards (“Terce", "Quarte," "Quinte"), and "Belote".
  • The player holding "Belote" (King and Queen of trump suit) gets 20 points.
  • Combinations are evaluated after the round, and points are added to the team with the highest combination.

Counting Points:

  • Points are counted based on card values, with specific scores for different cards.
  • Winning the last trick adds 10 points.
  • Combinations points are added if the team has won at least one trick

Winning the Game:

  • The first team to reach 1001 points wins.
  • The team that wins a bid and loses earns 0 points, while the opposing team gets the combined scores

Note:

  • A teams points can freeze ("hang") if the round ends in a tie.
  • Points for bids vary based on the type of bid and whether the team wins.
  • The specifics of each type of combination and trump card values determine scores.

Remember, practice will help you understand the game better!
